Bonny Doon Framboise

Last night we celebrated our anniversary. After dinner, we walked down to John's and purchased some Bonny Doon Framboise dessert wine. (Raspberry wine with grape spirits, it says on the back.) 17% a/v

Very tasty! Tasted like raspberry jam with definite presence of alcohol (unlike some other sweet drinks, where you can't even tell it's alcoholic). The texture was rather substantial but not syrupy.

Ben says:
It was tasty. I would buy it again.

What's in my Six Pack?

Ben is at a job interview, so I'm logging on to keep myself distracted until he gets back. I am feeling rather antsy.

I'm here to tell you about what's in the six pack I put together the other day. As I mentioned before, I've got some Schlafly Coffee Stout in the fridge which is rather enjoyable as well. The six pack is mainly stuff I haven't tried before.

  • Kirin Ichiban (had it before, but forgot what it's like)
  • Goose Island Nut Brown Ale (looking at their web site, they claim that "beer is like bread, the fresher the better!" Hm.)
  • Sammy Smith Nut Brown Ale (see a theme starting?)
  • Sammy Smith Old Brewery Pale Ale (there goes the theme)
  • Pyramid Curve Ball
  • Anchor Steam

Thought that it might be nice to have some lighter beers. Had a craving for light beer last month, and all I had were dark dark stouts, winter brews, and barleywine. AND one bottle of Unibroue Ephemere, huzzah! It worked out perfectly. I'm thinking about trying different types of Belgian-style witbiers before summer's out. (more Ephemere, Blue Moon, the John's Grocery brew that Millstream makes, some actual Belgian witbiers, etc.)

First Post

I bought a make-your-own six pack at John's today. I also have a couple of Schlafly's Coffee Stouts in the fridge. So there's the stuff I'll start with, and I'll post notes about it as they are consumed.
I need to figure out which ones are supposed to be cold, and which are supposed to be room temp. Any thoughts?
