Great Cheap Beer

For those of you in the Iowa City/Coralville area. Stop into the Coralville New Pioneer Coop and pick up a 12pack of Schell's FireBrick Amber Lager, $9.99. It's a great all malt Vienna-Style Amber Lager. It has a pleasant maltiness with subtle sweetness and a light hoppy finish. Run out now and get some. It's hidden back by the cheese case. Might also be available at the Iowa City location.

Another Great German Beer

Happy to join the Blog world and hope my additions will be helpful.
Had a new beer a couple weeks ago,
Schneider "Aventinus." Dark-ruby color. This beer has a thick and "persistant" head. This is a very intense wheat doppelbock with a slight cider nose, fresh with a hint of caramel. It finishes in a rich soft and lightly bitter impression. Wheat doppelbock 8.2 % vol. alc. Original gravity 18.5% $14.99 (4-16.9 oz). It was a great birthday present!

Proyecto Cu4tro

No, that's not a typo. It's a Spanish wine that (i think) they have at Riddles. I picked up a bottle at my local Schnucks, just under $10. The label claims: 40% Cabernet, 26% Merlot, 26% Tempranillo, and 8% Grenache. No matter -- it's delicious! Especially with ginger cookies! The cookies were my first effort and are a little overdone, though after a week they've softened to a delightful chewiness.
